After running successfully sans any competition for last three weeks, Ashutosh Gowariker's JODHAA AKBAR has many more reasons to smile. The film is now expected to enjoy yet another open fortnight all for itself considering the fact that BLACK & WHITE has hardly turned out to be any competition. With extremely low collections (expectedly) ever since this experimental film by Subhash Ghai has opened at theaters, BLACK & WHITE is finding it tough to sustain itself at the box office. However, since the reviews have been mainly favorable with urban centers showing positive signals, the film may just about manage to find some foothold over the weekend.
Still, the occupancy so far (in the range of 10%-20%) is hardly the kind, which would be too much of a competition to the Hrithik-Ash starrer. The film has shown an amazing sustaining power ever since it opened to just-about-good start three weeks back. JODHAA AKBAR has added close to 9 crores further in the third week which means that now this UTV film has crossed the 48 crore mark. Gaining a clear HIT status for itself with the progress it has made over the days, JODHAA AKBAR is now all set to cross the 50 crores mark this weekend and scale further heights as it enjoys an open fortnight all for itself before RACE strikes on 21st March.

Jodhaa Akbar has recorded fantastic collections in week 3. The film only managed to do business for a few days in week three before it was banned in UP by the state governemnt. This meant the film lost business of 50 lakhs upwards for the week. After three weeks the film has crossed the 48 crore nett mark. Intially it looked the film would be a city hit but the film has turned out to be a universal hit. Jodhaa Akbar will emerge at least a hit in every circuit of India where it had a release even likes of CP Berar and CI where it has had a troubled release from day one. The expected verdicts range from Blockbuster (Nizam, Mysore) to Super Hit (Mumbai) to Hit (Delhi/UP, East Punjab, West Bengal, Bihar, CP Berar and CI). A small circuit like Tamil Nadu is also showing near Blockbuster business with 1.05 crore nett business so far.
If the film continues its strong run and adds another 3 crore+ nett in Delhi/UP then the film will emerge a Super Hit in the domestic market. Jodhaa Akbar-Week Three Mumbai-4.25 crore Delhi/UP-1.70 crore East Punjab-0.65 lakhs West Bengal-0.55 lakhs Bihar-Pending CP Berar-28 lakhs CI-27 lakhs Rajasthan-Not Released Nizam-52 lakhs Mysore-55 Lakhs Tamil Nadu-30 lakhs Kerala-Pending Orissa-Pending Assam-Pending The film has collected 9.07 crore in week three with figures not available yet from a few areas. We can expect another 30 lakhs approx to be added when all collections come in giving the film around 9.35-9.40 crore nett business in week three.
This is also the first time that the film showed very good collections on the week day as the its third weekend added 6.20 crore and the weekdays added a further 3 crore. BOTTOMLINE IS JODHA AKBAR IS A UNIVERSAL HIT AND HEADING TOWARDS SUPERHIT STATUS.
