Jodhaa Akbar and Hrithik Roshan bag awards at the International Film Festival of Muslim Cinema, a Russian film festival It seems Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai’s chemistry has mesmerised the international audience too. Their film, Jodhaa Akhbar (February 2008) recently won the Grand Prix award at the International Film Festival of Muslim Cinema Golden Minbar, in Kazan, Russia. Actor Hrithik won an award in the Best Actor category too. An extremely thrilled Ashutosh Gowariker, the director of the film spoke to us “What do I say? It feels great. I am very happy that my film was shown at an international platform. It shows that we have a huge market with people from different countries appreciating Bollywood films. 


The jury selected it from 35 films consisting of full and short-length feature films and documentary films. Going by the response, I plan to dub the film in Russian and send it to Russia.” Was the proud director present at the award ceremony? “I wasn’t so lucky,” he sighs. “I am working on my next film, What’s Your Rashee? Even while I am talking to you, I am working on finalising the look for the cast of my film. What’s Your Rashee? will go on the floors in the first week of November and will be done by February 2009.” Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik’s father too echoed Ashutosh’s excitement. He says, “Hrithik deserved the award. My son gave dignity to the character. Currently, he is on the Bora Bora island in New Zealand for a week-long holiday with his family. I spoke to him about the award some time ago. He sounded thrilled and said, ‘That’s good news dad!’”
