Hrithik Roshan has become the proud father of a baby boy. Sussanne Roshan gave birth to a healthy baby at around 3 p.m. at Leelavati Hospital yesterday. “Both mother and child are fine,” says grandfather Rakesh Roshan. Sussanne's father Sanjay Khan and brother Zayed Khan were amongst the first to arrive in the hospital. The Roshan family was expecting the baby this week.
Rakesh Roshan was, of course, excited. “I am happy at becoming a grandfather. It feels nice to know that there's yet another Roshan to take our family forward. I wish both mother and child good luck,” he says. The entire Roshan khandaan and the Khan dynasty were present to wish the couple and the new born kid.
The first-time father Hrithik cannot contain his happiness. “I am speechless," he says. "We were all there when Sussanne went into labour. I have just seen the baby and the mother a few minutes ago. They both looked healthy and happy. This is the most joyous moment of my life. I want to enjoy this moment with my family and Sussanne.”
Was he expecting a boy or a girl? “It's my baby and I don't care about the sex. He is the most precious gift from God,” says Hrithik. Which of the parent does the new born bear a resemblance to? “Hmm, well... he looks happy and sweet,” he smiles.
Once the news of the newborn got around, the family was inundated by calls and floral tributes from friends, colleagues and well-wishers. Among those who called to convey their good wishes to Hrithik and Sussanne were Rekha, Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, to name a few.
This year has been important for Hrithik on two scores – he was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his baby and now he awaits the release of his film, Krrish. “As of now, I am not thinking about anything. I know people want me to talk about it, but I really have nothing to say. I don't know whether you'll understand or not, but you pass through certain glorious emotions in life which leave you speechless... all I want to say is 'Thank you God',” says Hrithik emotionally.
