When the King Khan parties, he ensures that everything is kingsize. His New Year bash at his bungalow Mannat was just such a do where he had Delhi-based DJ Sunny Sarid playing. Organised at the sea-facing terrace, this 12-hour danceathon had the who’s who of Bollywood jiving to the beats of Sarid. And what music did the stars want? “No Bollywood music, only retro and House, which is also SRK’s favourite,” Sunny answers.

A coffee table was put in the middle of the dance floor and Karan Johar was the first to get on it and start dancing. Next to go were SRK and Gauri. Hrithik Roshan was again and again asked to dance to Dhoom2 and had to finally request the DJ not to play the number again. The party continued till 7 in the morning, with guests refusing to leave the dance floor.

And so, DT got Sunny to recall some starry moments of SRK’s bash…

Guess who was mixing the music at Mannat, SRK’s swank residence when he threw a bash on December 31? Delhi’s DJ Sunny Sarid. Sunny, who has known Shah Rukh Khan from the days when he and Gauri used to go to a popular nightclub where Sunny used to play the music, was invited to be a part of the most happening Bollywood party. “SRK likes my music and so does Gauri. In fact, when he invited me to perform at Mannat for the New Year’s eve, I was not surprised,” says Sarid. The 12-hour
party started at around 7 pm in the evening. But obviously many came after 11 in the night. “I had gone for a sound check at 6.30 pm. And a huge crowd had gathered outside, who remained there till 7 in the morning, because they wanted to get a glimpse of their favourite stars,” Sunny recalls. The 4,000 square feet terrace at Mannat was done up in style to welcome some big names like Karan Johar, and Hrithik Roshan. The room right next to the terrace, was turned into a bar and a music room by SRK. It was from there that Sunny churned out his music. “I felt that the guests would like Bollywood numbers. But they wanted more of retro and house music. And as I and Shah Rukh both love retro, we had a blast.”

TWO TO TANGO
Gauri and Sussanne: Both wives of Bollywood aces danced in their own style. They followed each other’s funny steps, and they even danced on a slow sad number… their motto was: just dance.

GOOD HOSTS: SRK & GAURI
SRK and Gauri welcomed each and every guest personally and made sure that everyone had a glass of their favourite poison in their hands. They even danced with each and every guest before the clock struck 12. The party ended at around 7 am on January 1. A proper breakfast was served before most of the guests left.

CRAZY KIYA RE: HRITHIK
Hrithik was made to do a jig on Dhoom 2’s title track
once in every 15 minutes. After some time, he came to
me and pleaded to change the music.

ROCKING ARJUN!
Rampal came with wife Mehr, and the couple were there in time. Seemed like Arjun was in a mood to rock, for, he asked me to play some trance music for them to dance to, and they kept dancing till 3 am.

DANCE WITH KARAN?
SRK had put a coffee table in the centre of the terrace, and co-host Karan Johar took it upon himself to put it to good use and started dancing on it. He made sure that his steps were noticed by all the guests. Gauri and SRK followed Karan.

NELLY’S REQUEST
The singer came to the do with a bunch of cine stars including Dino and his gang of friends. Though some of her songs were played, she said she wanted to dance to Bollywood numbers. She also danced on the coffee table.

FLOORED: PRIYANKA
She walked in with Harman Baweja, and stayed to dance a few mean moves for quite some time.

MISSING FROM THE ACTION
Though it is known that the Bachchans and Rais did not go for SRK’s party, but neither did actress Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan and Rosa. But they have a good reason for no show. Preity Zinta was in Aspen skiing and Saif was out of town shooting.
