The news that Hrithik Roshan had been involved in a car accident got his fans worried, but his father Rakesh Roshan said he was not hurt during the mishap and was fine.
The accident took place on Monday night while Hrithik was on the way to Karjat for the shooting of Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodha-Akbar.
""Yes, there was an accident. Nowadays, Hrithik is shooting in Karjat for Jodha-Akbar. At around 9.30 pm, Hrithik was in the backseat of his car when the car behind him bumped into it. Before Hrithik and the driver knew what was happening, a truck from behind hit both Hrithik's car and the other vehicle,"" Rakesh Roshan told IANS.
""Fortunately, Hrithik was unhurt. Hrithik was home safe and sound by 11.30 pm. Even our car got away with just a few scratches,"" he added.
Rakesh Roshan would not be rueing that his prized possession — a Mercedes S-Class worth Rs1.25 crore — got badly dented, because his son Hrithik, travelling in it, was unscathed. The Bollywood heart-throb was involved in a road accident near Panvel.
“There was a Maruti Zen right in front of the Roshans’ Mercedes. Despite repeated honking by Hrithik’s driver, Sushil, the Zen refused to give way. After repeated attempts, the Mercedes managed to overtake the Zen. Having taken the lead, it slowed down a bit. The driver of the Zen, who was apparently drunk, couldn’t check his car and banged into the Mercedes. A Bolero travelling too close behind the Zen jammed hard, but hit by a truck from behind, it too rammed into the Zen. Had the accident happened at very high speed, it would have been a major catastrophe,” said an eyewitness.
Sources said that Hrithik came out of his car to talk to the Zen driver. But seeing he was heavily drunk, he left the place instead of confronting him.
The Mercedes Hrithik was travelling in was only the second of its kind in the whole of India. Director Karan Johar is the owner of the other one. The Roshans’ car has been sent to the company for repair. DNA contacted Hrithik’s secretary Ashok Vasodia, but he was reluctant to give details. He, however, admitted that there was an accident.
