Happy Birthday Hottie Hrithik!

The green eyed boy of Bollywood turns 35 today. We trace his fantastic Bollywood journey. Hrithik comes from a filmi family. His father is renowned filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, his grandfather is veteran producer J Om Prakash. Music composer Rajesh Roshan is his uncle. He appeared in films like Bhagwan Dada and Aapke Deewane. He then assisted his father on films like Karan Arjun, Koyla and King Uncle. Kaho Naa Pyaar hai released in 2000.

Hrithik ably carried the film ably on his tone shoulders with his confident performance and super smooth dancing skills. The film made Hrithik a superstar overnight. The stardom that Hrithik enjoyed was unprecedented. Many people compared the craze to the stardom Vinod Khanna and Rajesh Khanna enjoyed at the peak of the careers; such was the nationwide craze for Bollywood's newest entrant. King Khan felt the threat at the time but the two have become good friends now.

After playing the ultimate romantic hero in KNPH, Hrithik played a terrorist in Fiza and Mission Kashmir. He held his own opposite stalwarts like Sanjay Dutt and Karisma Kapoor. Fiza flopped and Mission Kashmir was a decent hit but Hrithik won accolades for his fine acting in both films. Then Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham and Yaadein released in 2001. K3G was a big hit and Hrithik shared screen space with SRK, Kareena, Big B and Jaya Bachchan. Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Aap Mujhe Achhe Lagne Lage, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon and Na Tum Jaano Na Hum were monumental flops.

Hrithik was on the verge of losing his stardom when Koi Mil Gaya saved him. Hrithik's performance as a mentally disabled kid was brilliant and touching to say the least. It was remarkable that such a young actor could perform with such sensitivity. The film was a super hit. After becoming friends with an alien in KMG, Hrithik played a confused youngster turned disciplined soldier in Lakshya. Yet another nuanced performance to add to his impressive and versatile body of work.

Krrish and Dhoom 2 sealed the deal for Hrithik. Krrish was a bigger hit than KMG. Hrithik looked amazing in it with his long hair and big muscles. No one could have played the super hero better than him. Things only got better when Dhoom 2 released. Hrithik contributed immensely to the film's success because everyone used one phrase to describe Hrithik in the film: Greek God. It was mind-blowing the way he made his character come alive and he brought so much soul to the proceedings. Even though he was a bad guy, we didn't want him to die.

He shared some crackling chemistry with Ash in the film. He was the ultimate sex symbol in the film. Hrithik is probably the most handsome man on the planet and exudes an amazingly positive and uplifting aura. So who better than him to play Mughal Emperor Akbar in Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar? We don't know how Akbar looked but Hrithik sure made him drool worthy! Unlike other period films, JA was a super hit. Hrithik and Ash sizzled once again and Hrithik delivered a magnificent performance. Hrithik has won numerous popular film awards and civilian honours in his eight year long career. Hrithik will now be seen scorching the screen doing some salsa with Mexican actress Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut in Kites which releases in the summer.

On the personal front, Hrithik is married to Suzanne, daughter of Sanjay Khan. They have two sons: 2 year old Hrehaan and 8 month old Hridhaan. Hrithik is one of the most stylish actors around but he is also a very private person who interacts with the media only during the time of his film's release. He is very choosy about his roles and mostly does one film a year. He is one the finest actors to have ever graced Bollywood. With his chiselled features and glowing green eyes, he is one of the most charming and quintessentially good looking men we have seen. Men like Hrithik are not made everyday so here is wishing one of God's finest creations a very happy birthday!

What’s Hrithik, if not perfect?

He was told that light eyes don’t work, that he was too thin, that his voice wasn’t good, that he has little confidence. But the unbeatable Hrithik Roshan shut those big mouths forever, triumphing over all that was being said. Other than the ‘supposedly lucky’ extra thumb that he carries on his right hand, there are many more reasons that make the actor distinct from rest of the hunks of B-town.

We saw the star kid Hrithik really coming into his own, when he did those mighty leaps across the silver screen in ‘Krrish’, and when he got the youth swinging to his kick-ass dancing in ‘Dhoom Machale’, and when he distanced himself from the warring star studded blog bandwagon, and never shouted from the roof top to assure the positive reception of his macho abs. Perhaps, everything that he has done in the industry so far reflects his invincible spirit.

The awe-inspiring Hrithik, who turns 35 this January, has been an obedient son, a loving husband, a very caring father, and without doubt, a zealous actor. He started his career as an assistant director to his father in the movies ‘Khudgarz’, ‘Karan–Arjun’ and ‘Koyla’ and today he stands as one of the best in Bollywood. Adored and loved like crazy by female fans, Hrithik has a big male fan following as well.

For the first time, when I saw him dance in ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’, I wondered, ‘How could someone dance so effortlessly?’ When I saw him act brilliantly in ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, I wondered ‘How could someone act so real?’ When I saw him in ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, I again wondered, ‘How could someone perform so gracefully?’ And when got to see him in ‘Dhoom 2’, I was too love smitten by his looks to wonder!

Fine, he did not have to struggle like many to get that perfect launch pad, but if you come to think of it, there’s one thing you would agree to - if it would not have been him in ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’, the not so exceptionally different film might have bombed at the Box Office. And had it not been for his exceptional act in ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ or ‘Krissh’, or ‘Dhoom 2’ or Jodhaa Akbar’… the movies might not have done as great (if not have completely gone down the drain). Not that Duggu hasn’t been a part of some big time flops, but surprisingly there’s something just so strikingly right about him that the audience chooses not to be critical about him.

And nonetheless, his performance has always been appreciated by the not so well-taken film critics too. For almost each instance, be it in a film sequence or an ad commercial, Hrithik has been cherished for every on-screen glimpse. Although by now, a handful must have begun to accuse me of over-justifying an obsession for the actor, but I can’t do a thing to stop myself from mentioning that not anybody ever could have possibly come out as convincing in the role of a superhero as Hrithik did in daddy Rakesh Roshan’s special attempts.

His proud father was so right when he once said, that if Hrithik would not have been there, he would not have ever thought of making films like ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ or ‘Krissh’ – films that were somewhat parallel to Hollywood cinema. He has that star appeal, he has that talent, that style, that confidence, which is proving to be a kind of legitimate relativity that we could find with Hollywood. He truly is the ‘Indian Superman’! Well, I haven’t really seen him boasting about his abs like others.

And very honestly there, since his debut, I have never come across a single person who wants to keep away from Hrithik’s fan list. Now, I could seemingly go on showering such laudable adjectives on him, but for now would just put my admiration to rest, hoping that Hrithik’s charm never ever fades away, and his magic keeps up with each year passing by. Here’s wishing Bollywood’s Mr Perfect a very happy birthday!
