Blissed out on his B-Day

On his 37th birthday, Duggu talks about life, that special horizon yonder, and why love will win the day in 2011 Hrithik Roshan turns 37 today. While he brought in his birthday with his family at a Juhu five star, last night, a surprise party arranged by his wife and kids awaits him today as well (hope he’s not reading this!). While some of his close friends will be present to wish him, King Khan will specially fly down from South Africa to wish him on his birthday. However, Hrithik himself is unaware of it. He says, “I brought in my birthday with my family and my grandparents. They love the beachside area of a five star nearby, so for their sake I was with them. The gifts have started coming in. On birthdays we are all made to feel extra special. The only plan is to give back as much love as possible. Tonight my instincts tell me that something is cooking but I don’t know what. I have been kept away from the plan. It’s going to be a normal work day for me.”

When asked that SRK is specially flying down from South Africa to be with him on his special day, Hrithik said, “I am not aware of anything like this. I feel that nobody should leave their work and it’s just another day for me.” When asked what he looks forward to in the coming year, Hrithik said, “There is a lot to look forward to. I am super excited about Agneepath and I am super excited about the fact that dad is making Krrish. I am very happy with both the scripts. No one knows what’s truly going on with life. With every year I try and look forward and go around the same circle. It is like a hamster chasing the cheese; never get it but we all need to have a perspective on the mundane point of view. After a certain point in life you have to be thankful to the people, to your fans, family and children, and to your work that will somehow bring you closer to the truth and God. One day hopefully if you have done your job well, you will get all the answers.”

Speaking about being voted as the most desirable man by Times of India, Hrithik said, “It’s a great honour. I have never won that title and somebody will win it next year, and the year after that, and so on. Things keep on changing. What is desirable in life is just a reflection of the potential that lies inside of all of us. If the people of the country desire something, that is manifesting in me, it’s just a reflection of the potential that lies inside all of them. All I can say is that when you desire something then you have the power to achieve. Otherwise you won’t desire something which is not in your reach.

Speaking about the last year Hrithik said, “I am very happy for a couple of reasons, because though both my films didn’t do well I took two of the biggest risks in my life. With Kites, I took the challenge of breaking the language barrier and we realised that it’s too early. With Guzaarish I did a film which most stars would stay away from because it is not a secure platform. And that got me so much love. I have never seen anyone stand up in silence after a film. Fans met me and hugged me in silence, one that says beautiful things. I am in complete gratitude. Whatever I do in my life will now be determined by this milestone in my life.”

Reacting on Salman calling him a child, Hrithik said, “I think Salman Khan must have said that with affection. But I don’t think there is anything wrong in being a child. I still watch cartoons, I still love playing with the toys of my children and I get deeply involved. We must always keep the child in us alive and I think that the world is more beautiful and there are more things to discover when you see it from a child’s point of view. The world seems more intriguing, more refreshing. The curiosity of a child is something that keeps the world beautiful.”

The actor has also been working out till 3 am toget into the Agneepath look. He celebrated his 10th wedding anniversary with family and friends in Goa at the end of 2010, brought in the New Year in Dubai and was supposed to fly down to the US for his 36th birthday. But Hrithik Roshan is staying put in Mumbai. He’ll have a quiet party this evening at his Juhu residence, with family and a few close friends like Karan Johar,Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Mehr and Arjun Rampal, Chunky and Bhavna Panday, Sanjay Kapoor and Riteish Sidhwani. “It’s just another day except that I will be loved a little extra. My kids are a year older so there’ll be more action from them,” he smiles.

“The kind of love I’ve got after Guzaarish is something I have never experienced before in my10-year career and an optimistic start to my second decade in show business.” Hrithik is on the verge of wrapping up Zindagi Na Mile Dobara. The last few days, he’s been shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s coming-of-age movie till close to midnight. After that he goes to the gym and works out till almost 3 am. Only after the almost three-hour workouts is he ready for bed. A couple of hours of sleep and he’s up and running to his shoot, with a cardio thrown in before that if he can manage it. “It’s not that I want to beef up or build up an eight or twelve-pack to play Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in the Agneepath remake. I had to put on some weight for Guzaarish in which I played a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair after a tragic accident. I’m just getting back into shape,” he reasons.

The Agneepath remake is being directed by Karan Malhotra for Karan Johar’s DharmaProductions. It flags off later this month. Probe him on its USP and Hrithik says, “The drive and conviction we have as a team. That should suffice for now.” The actor adds that before he starts work on the film, he wants to be as fit as he was before Guzaarish.“I’m not doing any thing drastic differently as far as workouts go.But when you compare my Agneepath look to that in Guzaarish, you will notice a definite change,”he promises. “The new Agneepath will also be a change from the original... It’s younger, sharper, fully revamped.”

I am a peaceful warrior: Hrithik Roshan

Is Sussanne Roshan planning a party for actor hubby Hrithik Roshan who turns 37 today? The actor is clueless about it, but curious nevertheless about the rumoured hush-hush birthday party being planned for him. All he knows is that he will be celebrating the day with his family. “I will be celebrating it with my family. Probably a dinner with my wife and kids and friends who will make time for me,” says Roshan with a smile on his face. We tell him that the buzz around is that actor-turned-buddy, Shah Rukh Khan and Sussanne are ‘conniving’ together to give him a big surprise and he bursts out laughing.

“Yes, we had a great time in Berlin (he went there to celebrate Shah Rukh’s birthday with his wife and kids). As for throwing a bash, I am not throwing one this year. Besides, my friends are busy shooting, but let’s see how things turn out,” he says philosophically. We remind the actor that some pictures of his anniversary party in Goa recently got leaked online, and it appeared that one of his close buddies clicked those pictures on a mobile phone. “I’m aware of that…You cannot control these things. You can only protect one’s privacy to an extent, the rest is beyond one’s control,” he says.

So, it’s true that he tends to trust people easily and sometimes, gets hurt in the bargain? “I do trust people. I believe that it (trust) should be premise of life. I don’t think that I should stop trusting people in the fear that I might get hurt. If you spread love, you will get back love,” he says. So, what does he have to say about Salman likening him to a child? “If you ask my friends you’ll know that I generally don’t react to something unless I am forced to. I am the last person to pick up a fight. I would like to describe myself as a peaceful warrior. I always give the benefit of the doubt to everybody, and think that he/she has said it out of love. Nothing else,” he ends.

I'm very happy we're making a sequel to 'Krrish': Hrithik

Bollywood heart-throb Hrithik Roshan for the first time celebrated his birthday Monday with media by cutting a cake, talking about his future projects and revealing his happiness over his filmmaker father's decision to make a sequel to "Krrish". "I'm very happy that papa (Rakesh Roshan) has finally taken the mantle and said that he will make 'Krrish' because it was my dream to make another 'Krrish'...I was wishing that one day he gets up and thinks about the film and I'm happy that has happened now," said the actor, who has turned 37.

The actor also revealed that actress Priyanka Chopra will be the female lead in the film and it is slated to hit screens later this year. Released in 2006, "Krrish" is a Indian superhero science fiction that carried forward the story of "Koi... Mil Gaya" about developmentally challenged Rohit (Hrithik) and his ability to connect with aliens through his late father's special computer. In "Krrish", Hrithik plays Krishna, son of Rohit, who has superhuman abilities. Both the films were directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan. The actor, whose much hyped "Kites" bit the dust at the box office, will be seen in two more films - "Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara" and "Agneepath" remake - this year. "I'm very excited about all the three films because all are challenging roles.

One is over and I'll be starting 'Agneepath' now and then of course 'Krrish'," said the actor who was casually dressed in a white T-shirt and blue jeans and teamed it up with a black cap for the media meet. Taking about his birthday, the actor said that age is just a state of mind. "Number and years are all man made terms in our minds. We should not go by them. You're as young as you're heart tells you. I still feel as I felt when I was 18. Although my knees heart a bit more than they used to," said Hrithik. The actor started his day with a pooja at home, then spent time with his family, followed by a telephonic session with fans, meeting with media and it will end with a party at his place.
