STAR Plus’ much awaited ultimate dance reality show that urges the audience to Sab Kuchh Bhula Ke… Just Dance, premiered this weekend. We have to say the first two episodes were nothing less than impressive. Superstar Hrithik Roshan was the USP of the show undoubtedly and his much awaited entry on the small screen was stunning. He landed on the telly screens of millions with a bang, he danced his way into their hearts on a rocking performance on a medley of his hit numbers, including the Just Dance theme song. No wonder the act was superbly entertaining.
This dance extravaganza was a super duper hit on the channel's official website too. The web premiere of Just Dance garnered lakhs of views and the response from the viewers for the first look of the show was terrific. There was also a 'Watch and Win' contest in store for viewers that took the excitement to a different level altogether. During the web premier of Just dance, viewers surged to check out Hrithik Roshan's debut on the small screen and showered the show and Hrithik with praise. When the God of dance Hrithik showed off his groovy moves, fans from all over the world logged in to watch him. While numerous messages poured in, most gushed over Hrthik and his phenomenal presence. Onlymily said, "Watching @JustDance_India 1word waoooo.HR rocksss," while ishellym posted, "All Thanks 4m d core of my heart for bringin d show in front of the world..hat's off. Speechless, Highly obliged & Proud.” Sagar Kamalakar claimed, “HR rocks. sab kuch bhulake just dance yaar,” Sadhna Kushwaha voiced, “varun n mehar r realy so rock in dis show.” Raj Verma felt, “this show is the biggest show in telivigion,” Sanjib Hazra said, “dis show is rockkking,” Arnob Roy Shaon added, “Biggest show!”
As the first two episodes introduced the judges and were all about the auditions in Delhi and Kolkata, we saw hordes of people lining up, mostly to meet and greet Hrithik. Contestants put on their dancing shoes all set to win the audition round and the coveted HR bracelet. The ones that stood out and deserve a special mention are Meher Malik, who wowed the judges Vaibhavi Merchant and Farah Khan as well as the crew of Just Dance who could not stop themselves from cheering for her. Meher performed a belly dancing act and as Vaibahavi rightly said, “It seemed like her belly was a separate person and had a life of its own.”
Tomboy Anjana shook a leg to Justin Bieber’s number as well as to Govinda’s song. Although she did not win the HR bracelet she proved that she was a complete entertainer. Soumita, another participant performed a fusion of Kathak and contemporary with her imitation of a peacock which was commendable. Azghar’s act, an amalgamation of the styles of various actors was totally paisa vasool. Sonali performed a Kathak dance in spite of a fractured hand and Dinanath, the fruit seller, excelled in a hip-hop style. All of the above contestants had inspiring stories to share and proved their passion for dance. What made the show even more interesting were the encouraging messages that Hrithik had for each city, which is an excellent way to connect with the contestants.
The show also had clips of Hrithik answering some questions posed by the contestants which gave the viewers some little known information about their favourite star. Another aspect that makes the show extremely watchable is the rapport between judges Farah and Vaibhavi, as they successfully keep the mood light with their jokes and comments. At one point, they even took to the stage and danced in an absolutely carefree manner. However, when it came to judging the contestants, they got serious and did not mince words as they commented on the intricate details of the performances.
Host Ayushman Khurana was his usual funny and witty self. If we had to point out one change we hope for in the future episodes, it would be to see more of Hrithik Roshan. His much awaited entry into television has finally happened and it would be great if we get to see more of him rather than in few segments. But guess, we will have to wait for the actual competition to start. However, we are sure you agree that it will be worth the wait, won’t it? Do not miss Just Dance on STAR Plus every Saturday-Sunday at 9 pm.
