Actor cancels Krrish 3 shoot and mom Pinky's birthday bash in Switzerland to fly back to city
It's a known fact that late filmmaker Yash Chopra loved Switzerland and lost no opportunity to celebrate the idyllic beauty of the country in his movies. Coincidentally, actor Hrithik Roshan was shooting for Krrish 3 in the Swiss Alps on Sunday when the news of Chopra's death reached him. The actor immediately cancelled the shoot for five days to fly back to Mumbai.
Hrithik, who is very close to Chopra's younger son Uday, wanted to reach the city as soon as possible to support him.
“They are best of friends and so Hrithik took the first available flight out of Zurich at 9 on Monday morning (IST) to be in Mumbai by evening. We don’t know if he would make it for the funeral but he is surely coming to be by Uday’s side,” says an insider.
Last year, the Swiss government had honoured Yash Chopra by naming a train after him. On Sunday, the authorities held a special event in the train in Chopra’s memory. “Hrithik along with his entire family and the film crew, attended his memorial event. They lit candles in front of the train,” adds the source.
Hrithik also cancelled his mother Pinky’s birthday celebrations. “The plan was to celebrate Pinkyji’s birthday in Switzerland with a small private party. In fact, the entire family including Hrithik’s wife Sussanne and sister Sunaina were in Switzerland for the party,” adds the insider.
It’s quite uncanny that the day Yash Chopra passed away (October 21) was also supposed to be his last day at the shoot of Jab Tak Hai Jaan (the filmmaker was to shoot a special song for the film on this day).

As we go to press, news comes in that the Roshans — Rakesh and Hrithik, have packed up their Krrish-3 schedule in Switzerland and are flying back to Mumbai, to be with the Chopra family. Duggu, who was shooting on a train named after Yash Chopra in Switzerland, broke down when he heard the news of Yashji’s demise. Ironically, Yashji’s last wish was to actually go to the Alps with Shah Rukh, an actor he loved like his own son.

Many Bollywood celebrities have been visiting the Chopra household to stand by the family in this time of utmost sorrow. Recently, film stars Hrithik Roshan and Nargis Fakhri were spotted outside Yash Chopra’s earthly abode, early this week.
Hrithik and Nargis had come to pay their respects to the deceased filmmaker. The duo was seen giving heartfelt condolences to the late director/ producer’s family.
Hrithik had just landed from Switzerland with his wife, and rushed to the legendary filmmaker’s home on hearing the sad news of his demise. He was seen looking sombre and shocked, much like the other mourners at the Chopra residence. Snapped in one of the pictures by our photographers, Hrithik was seen leaving Yash Chopra’s house in his car. He was dressed in his airport attire of black tee-shirt and grey track pants.
