India's heartthrob Hrithik Roshan and perky actress Preity Zinta won the best actor and best actress awards at the India International Film Awards (IIFA) held were on Saturday. Roshan's portrayal as a mentally challenged man who gets treated by an alien in last year's smash hit "Koi Mil Gaya" won him all Bollywood laurels including the prestigious IIFA at a glittering ceremony attended by the who's who of the Indian film industry. Australian cricketer Brett Lee presented Zinta her first IIFA for her role as a depressed young woman in "Kal Ho Na Ho". Best director award recepient for "Koi Mil Gaya", Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik's father, said his son's sheer hard work brought the best in him.


"(For me) as a father, he (Hrithik Roshan) has taken after me. He knows I work very hard because nothing is very easy here, you have to work every minute of the day and he knows that and he does that. As a director I sketch out a script, which suites him as I know his abilities and capabilities," he said.

The night also saw some glittering performances by the film fraternity as a tribute to yesteryears' actors.
