HRITHIK ROSHAN WILL BE THE DEBUT GUEST ON FARHAN AKHTAR’S CHAT SHOW
When Hrithik Roshan’s Jodhaa Akbar stormed theatres earlier this year in February, Shah Rukh Khan ensured that he stayed in the spotlight by turning Headmaster with the launch of Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?. Now that Shah Rukh is coming on the big screen this Friday with the Aditya Chopra biggie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Hrithik is making his presence felt on the satellite airwaves.
Yes, Hrithik Roshan is the first celebrity guest on Farhan Akhtar’s new show on NDTV Imagine Oye... It’s Friday!, to be aired at 10pm on Friday (December 12), the day Shah Rukh’s only 2008 film Rab Ne... releases worldwide. In fact, NDTV Imagine had other episodes shot for the show but they chose to kick off with Hrithik.
Farhan, the host and the man responsible for getting the celebrities on the show, is friends with both Hrithik and Shah Rukh, having worked with the two stars in Lakshya and Don. And given the promotional bout on television before every Bollywood release, one would have expected Shah Rukh to come on Oye... It’s Friday! and talk Rab Ne...
Ask Farhan about it all and he just chuckles. “The show was the priority and it’s not that we got to shoot a lot of episodes because of the strike in Mumbai between the producers and cine workers’ employees,” he tells t2. “We have special guests planned on every episode and some of them are my friends. Hrithik just happens to be the first one.”
Farhan remained mum on whether Shah Rukh would actually appear in one of the Oye episodes in the future. But given his proximity to King Khan and that he is making Don 2 with him and that SRK’s best friend Karan Johar has a stake in NDTV Imagine, it’s unlikely that Shah Rukh will give it a miss.
For all those who think that Oye... It’s Friday! has been planned as an answer to Koffee with Karan, KJo himself will be quizzed by Farhan in one of the episodes. According to our sources, the KJo episode has already been shot and will be among the first few to be telecast.
As for the debut Hrithik episode, get ready to know a lot more about your favourite Dhoom:2 star, from his nickname Duggu to his biggest fans. One of them, in fact, will be on the show. Eleven-year-old Siddharth Nagarajan, who has entered the Limca book of records as the youngest drummer in India, will get to meet his biggest idol, Hrithik Roshan, on Oye... It’s Friday!. Siddharth also performs on the show but does Duggu do a jig? Tune in and find out.
