Star-studded field for HISA Celebrity Golf

 

Bangalore, July 8 (UNI) A plethora of stars will be seen in action during the HISA Celebrity Golf which will kick off the prestigious Hero Indian Sports Academy Awards to be held here tomorrow. 

The golf tournament to be played at the picturesque KGA Course, would feature some of the top notch corporate heads along with celebrities like South Indian film star Madhavan and renowned film-maker Mani Ratnam, apart from HISA Chairman and veteran cricketer Kapil Dev. In all about 60 players were expected to participate.

The tournament and the HISA Awards ceremony was an endeavour from the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world - Hero Honda, which was also one of the biggest supporters of Indian sport.

''As a part of our social commitment, we at Hero Honda Motors, wish to honour our sportspersons who have brought laurels to our nation,'' said Mr Pawan Munjal, Managing Director, Hero Honda Motors Limited and also Patron-in-chief, HISA. ''Golf being an elite sport, it gels with our company's image and a tournament featuring so many legendary figures only befits the grand ceremony in the evening,'' he added.

The star-attraction of the HISA Celebrity Golf was a clinic for the non-golfers where a number of celebrities, including film stars Hrithik Roshan and Bipashu Basu, would take part in the golfing lessons and a putting competition.

The other celebrities for the golf tournament include former India cricketers Syed Kirmani and GR Vishwanath, Olympic Silver Medallist Lt. Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Badminton champion Prakash Padukone and Hockey player Ashish Ballal. 

Amongst the corporate honchos, Lee Kennedy, Managing Director 3M India Ltd., Frank Koster Chief Executivce Officer and Managing Director, ING Vysya Life Insurance, Rangu Salgame, Chief Executive Officer, Cisco Systems and V Shashikant Chief Excutive Officer, UB Global Corp., would be vying for honours.

Apart from the overall winner's prize, three spot prizes would also be up for grabs - the `Closest to the pin', the `Straightest drive' and the `Longest drive' also known as ' Sarva Guna Sampanna.' All the Overall winners in the respective categories would get a complimentary return ticket from co-sponsors Kingfisher Airlines.
