This is the first time Hrithik has posed bare body for a picture. He has shot a lot in tight T-shirts and gangees but never bare bodied. Not even in films.
Even that look on his face -- that kind of power -- is a first for him. I'm proud that I'm the one he's done the firsts with. He even shot his first portfolio with me!
We share a great rapport through the years. That helps in creating the mood.
He trusts me a hundred percent, so I did not have to convince him to take off his shirt. He had decided that the first time he would do a bare body picture, it would be with me. Besides, I told him that if the pictures did not come out well, we would not use them.
Technically, you will see that Hrithik has never shot for a picture from a low angle (when the camera is lower than the model) before. It's either a top or eye-level angle.
We took about 40 to 50 pictures, and then selected this. We have treated it in photoshop in terms of the colours, tones, background etc. We shot Hrithik's picture in the studio. The background was shot separately and both were merged.
The shoot took about two hours. That was long, considering Amitabh Bachchan's picture took only five minutes! But in Hrithik's case, we had to apply a lot of body makeup, the oils etc. Also, we experimented with the light a lot.
Hrithik loves photosessions. So does Abhishek, Arjun Rampal and John Abraham. With male models, there is very little you can do with makeup and hair. With a woman, you can do the eye makeup different, change hairstyles etc. So men tend to look similar in their pictures. But not these guys!
