His films are known for their opulent settings and big budgets but filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali says that all of his movies are about the plight of the common man. "In all my films, I have tried to show the plight of common man. Through my films I want to show them that life is beautiful and that they should not lose hope," Bhansali, who is gearing up for the release of 'Guzaarish' told PTI. "I want them to look at life in a positive manner and get inspired by the characters of my films," the 47-year-old director said.

The director has dealt with dark and intense subjects in his films like his directorial-debut 'Khamoshi', which was the struggle of a deaf and mute couple, 'Devdas' saw a jilted lover and 'Black' showed the struggles and travails of a blind, deaf and mute girl. "In all my films, I tried showing the positive approach the characters take. For instance, in 'Black', Michelle, who despite being a deaf, blind and mute girl went ahead to fulfil her ambitions," Bhansali said. "Likewise, I want all those people who have difficulty either physically or mentally must not lose hope and feel sad about it, instead pursue their dreams, he said.

With his latest film, 'Guzaarish' starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, which is slated for release tomorrow, will explore the life of a paraplegic and deals with another serious issue, euthanasia.
