Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan feels portraying a villain in Hindi films is easy but projecting a super villain is an daunting task. Roshan's upcoming 'Krrish 3' is the third film in the sci-fi genre after hit films 'Koi Mil Gaya'and 'Krrish'. "Krrish has been established as a superhero. The difficulty was how to make a super villain. We had to make sure the powers of super villain were more than that of superhero. It is all been very difficult. To make a villain is very easy in Hindi films but to make a super villain is very difficult," Roshan told PTI. "To make a super villain was a creative call and not a commercial one. Now who will be in his gang, so we have mutants - one of it is Kaya (Kangna Ranaut)," he said. Roshan contemplated putting 'Krrish 3' on back burner as creatively things weren't working out. "In a superhero film there is a superhero and a supervillain. Hollywood makes a one and a half hour film... they meet, they fight, they meet they fight. But the content value is not that much. In Indian films they need content. I wasn't getting good content which would satisfy me," he said.

Roshan wrote two scripts for 'Krrish 3' and wasn't happy with both of them and he started working on some other subjects. But, at the back of his mind, 'Krrish 3' was there. "This is a new genre for me because we don't make such kind of films. We are not trained to make such films. Hence, it was challenging as well as exciting. Hollywood has been making such films for last 40-50 years," he said. "When you know your story is strong, then all special effects, vfx etc are just decorations. I see a lot of films and special effects are a part of your imagination," he said. 'Krrish 3' promos remind of Hollywood film 'X Men'. But Roshan insists he has not taken any references from Hollywood movie though he watches English films. "No, there is no reference. A superhero film has got its own world which one can't change. Like in love stories ¿ there is a rich guy falling for a poor girl or vice-versa. But how you treat it is what makes the difference and is challenging," he said. "I watch a lot of films - movies of any genre. I don't take references. If I like a scene it remains in my mind subconsciously. I don't copy that but I do take inspiration from it and do it in another way," the filmmaker mentioned. It took three years to make 'Krrish 3' and sci-fi films released in the west during the time gave him jitters. "Yes it did give me jitters. When they work with technology they have many sequences in the film. We work with a story which have very few sequences because our budget doesn't allow. They make movies for 400 million dollars and we make for Rs 100 crore. Their one action sequence is our whole film," Roshan said.

"We give more importance to the content of the film... so we score over there," he said. Roshan chose Vivek Oberoi to play super villain Kaal, who was the first and only choice for this role. "I always thought he is a good actor. When I was writing the script I had him in mind. But I wasn't sure whether he will do a villain¿s role or not. I asked him to read the script and give me his opinion. After two hours he came to me and said you want me to play Kaal? I said yes and he said he will do it. What Vivek has done in the film I can't see any other actor doing," he said. For the role of Kaya, a mutant, to be played by Kangana Ranaut, a lot of actresses were considered. "When I first went to Kangana she refused to do the film. Then I tried other actresses but I couldn't get Kangana out of my mind while writing the script. So I went back to her with the bound script. She read it and called me within 3-4 hours and agreed to do the film," he said.

Roshan reveals that Kangana was a bit scared to do the film because Priyanka Chopra was also part of the ambitious project. "She thought her role might get chopped in the end so she didn't want to do it," he said. 'Krrish 3' releases on November 1.
