Javed Akhtar returns to lyric writing after nearly five years, teams up with AR Rahman and Ashutosh Gowariker again, this time for the Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo- Daro.

Ashutosh Gowariker, AR Rahman and Javed Akhtar created musical milestones in Lagaan, Swades and Jodhaa- Akbar. Now they are back together again for Gowariker's proposed period film Mohenjo- Daro featuring Hrithik Roshan in the lead. Interestingly, this would also be Javed saab's return to lyrics writing after an absence of nearly four years when he did only the songs in films directed by his children Farhan and Zoya, besides Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroop.

In 2012- 13, Javed saab was blacklisted by all major producers because of his long legal and moral tussle over copyrights- royalty issues for writers. Friends like Karan Johar, whom the poet had been associated with for many years, quickly a b a• d o• e d Javed saab. Confirming this historical return to the poetic form, Javed saab says, ' It's true. I was unemployed for nearly five years because of my fight with producers over writers' royalty. During this time I mainly wrote lyrics for my children Farhan and Zoya's film.' Now that Javed saab has won the royalty issue, the producers are back. Javed saab says, ' Coming together with Rahman is always a challenge. Ashutosh and I have worked on all his films after Lagaan. Interestingly we've recreated different chapters of history in Lagaan, Jodhaa- Akbar and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se. Mohenjo Daro is a new challenge.'

Besides Gowariker's Mohenjo- Daro, Javed saab has also been signed to write the lyrics for Vipul Shah's next directorial venture. ' Vipul's film is a very contemporary love story while Ashutosh's film will take me back to the past. I am resuming my career as a lyricist with these two very different projects. Hopefully you will get to hear a lot of my songs in 2015,' adds Javed saab.
