Dancing and doing action scenes as a blind person was difficult: Hrithik opens up

Even before the big release, Hrithik Roshan has been receiving rave reviews for his performance as a blind man in Kaabil. The intense trailer and promos have made the thriller one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

And while we can only think about the challenges that might have come along, here’s what Hrithik has to say about playing a blind man in the film.

On being asked what was the most difficult thing about Kaabil the 43-year-old said, “Nothing was ‘most difficult.’ Everything was difficult and everything was so easy. The difficult part was the blind parts-doing action scenes and dancing as a blind person. We prepped for it beforehand and that was enjoyable! There was so much passion for this film, to build this film and make it. Working with Yami Gautam was so wonderfully bright and invigorating! That all came from the script and everybody was so passionate about doing something very special. So everything just worked out and the most difficult thing became very easy.”

Further speaking about the challenges of playing a blind guy, the Mohenjo Daro star revealed, “My brain has to dissociate from what is happening in front of me, even though I am not blind and to pretend that I am not being stimulated by light or not reacting to something that’s moving really quickly right across my face or a fly that is lurking right in front of my face. To not react to these things are spaces where you need to develop your skill to overpower your instincts.”

“Your instinct will be to flinch and react to a bright light, to not frown when you are shooting in a really hot, bright, afternoon. You will squint. All these were challenges of playing a blind guy,” Hrithik added.
Helmed by Sanjay Gupta, the flick also stars real-life brothers Ronit and Rohit Roy. Produced by Rakesh Roshan, the movie will hit the silver screen on January 25.
