Hrithik Roshan is such a private guy that we wondered, would he ever let us invade his world? He said he’d think about it. Asked no questions. Laid down no conditions. Then, one day, said yes.

And opened his doors wide. This is as intimate a look into his life as you could get (just this once, he told us). You won’t find wife Sussanne in the pictures, but she’s there all through, as you will discover

Once he’d done that, it was Hrithik Roshan perfectionism in action. I’m doing it but .

It won’t happen Then said yes.
After that

His home and family are Hrithik Roshan’s strength. It is not a world

THAT LIGHT ON MY FACE

I discovered that Mumbai has the most perfect sunset only after we shifted to this house last year. My bedroom window gives me a clear view of the sun setting on the Arabian Sea and as the sun goes down, the whole room is bathed in beautiful orange hues. Truly, you have to see it to believe how heavenly it looks. For me, it’s the most beautiful time of day. Whenever I’m not in town, I long to have that light on my face and can’t wait to get back to my bedroom.

In the mornings, this is where I catch up on what’s happening around the world I like to go through the daily papers here soon after I get up. It’s my fuel station too I have my breakfast here as well.

MY PRIVATE WORLD

My bathroom is my doorway to complete isolation. The door to my own private world. A place where I can spend time with just myself. A lot of my thinking happens here. I keep some reading material around too.
I take great care to keep my bathroom spotless and Sussanne is a cleanliness freak too, so you’ll always find my bathroom spic ‘n’ span.
Oh, the stubble you see on my face is my unemployed look. Since I’m not shooting for any film, I don’t need to worry about continuity problems so I keep trying different hairstyles and looks these days

THIS RIDICULOUS PASSION

For years I dreamt of having a gym of my own. When we were doing up this place, I also decided that it would have to be the biggest room in the house. Of course, it wasn’t easy to convince Sussanne and the rest of the family about this ridiculous passion and I had to be very headstrong and stubborn about how badly I wanted it. But then, they love me, so my madness was accepted (as always). And finally, my dream came true.
I exercise five days a week. I run about 30 minutes on the treadmill in the morning or even in the middle of the night if I feel like it.Depending on my mood and excitement level, my weight training lasts around 15 minutes. It’s like my daily dose of my tranquility and serenity the state I’m in after every work-out. Sometimes my neighborhood friends like Gautam Kapoor drop in to work out with me, sometimes Sussanne joins in with her trainer. It’s one time of the day I really look forward to.

MEETING POINT

It’s an unwritten rule in our household that we have to have at least one meal in a day together. That’s the only way to make sure we all get to see each other and meet to discuss family matters.
I like to sit at the dining table at other times too. Though my laptop is usually in my bedroom, I bring it here sometimes and sit down to read my scripts. I prefer to read scripts on the computer.
Whenever I have the time, I also like to surf the Net there’s so much information available, I find it simply fascinating.

WE’RE A FAMILY OF ACTORS

Don’t let Pug fool you. He’s a super-restless dog but right now he’s behaving himself because he’s posing for the camera. You can’t blame him he’s grown up in a film family after all. We have two Persian cats too and surprisingly they get along very well with Pug.
Actually, I have to confess you won’t find me lying down like this on the sofa either. In fact, this is where I hold a lot of my meetings and discussions, including story sessions.

THE MOST AMAZING THING SUSSANNE COULD HAVE DONE FOR ME

My favourite room. It’s a lounge on my floor, meant for chilling out, sitting around, watching movies. Sussanne and I land up here after dinner to just chat, catch a movie, discuss it. Friends drop in often too... actually you could call it the entertainment zone.
Incidentally, this room has a very interesting story to it. I had dreamt of having a room like this some day in my life and I happened to mention that to Sussanne one day. She said nothing at the time. Soon after, I went to Ladakh to shoot for Lakshya and was away for three months. When I returned, she brought me here and when she opened the door, I couldn’t believe what I saw. The room was exactly what I had dreamt of. From the projector to the screen to the speakers, everything was just where I wanted it to be. And she had kept the whole thing a secret for three months. It’s the most amazing thing Sussanne could have done for me.
