One of Bollywood's most popular couples, Hrithik Roshan and Suzanne Khan turned up hand in hand to pledge their support for the International Aids Candlelight memorial organised by Parmeshwar Godrej's Heroes Project. TIMES NOW caught up with the couple exclusively for a quick chat.

Hrithik on the cause

We are here to lend a helping hand to create an awareness around HIV positive people and AIDS. There is a lot fo stigma and discrimination against these people and we force them into isolation. It does not need to be like that.

Suzanne on the level of AIDS awareness in India

I think Parmeshwar Godrej has done a great job and I salute her for her constant perseverence for making it known to the people who know about it but do not really want to embrace it.

Suzanne on Hrithik's new film 'Kites'

I think the movie is beautiful and once it is out everyone will see that for themselves but it's something that is really close to our hearts so we can't really praise it. Once it is out there you will know what we are talking about. It is for the audience to decide.

Hrithik on being on the red carpet with Barbara Mori

It was all quite hazy. I was just blasted with so many flashes and did not what was really going on but I did enjoy it. In retrospect it was nice to be out there with all the people and feel insignificant but also important in my own way.

Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar pledge support for HIV/AIDS patients

To express their solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS, Bollywood actors Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar attended the 26th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial in Mumbai today. Sponsored by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), the Mumbai District AIDS Control Society had organized the event to pay tribute to those who lost their lives to the deadly disease. Themed 'Together, We Are the Solution,' the programme was a part of the Global Health Council to spread awareness about HIV and AIDS across the world. Hrithik Roshan, who was accompanied by wife Suzzane Roshan, floated a lantern in the air carrying the message, "Together we are the solution". Roshan, who had just returned from Cannes Film Festival to attend the campaign, took the pledge to create awareness and educate people about HIV and AIDS. "This is not a one time thing, this has to go on. I am here to take my pledge to be a part of this and I will do whatever I can. Not only just come and give speeches but be personally present in places where I can pass on, embrace and educate people through visual medium," said Roshan.

Back from the glamour of Cannes, Hrithik Roshan and wife Suzanne caught up with their social responsibilities, attending the 26th International AIDS candlelight memorial at Shivaji Park Grounds, Mumbai, on Tuesday, May 19. Suzanne wore a white floral print sun dress while Hrithik was attired in a white suit and dress shirt with a black belt. Hrithik and Suzanne recently got a tattoo inked on their right forearms – A variation of the Solomon’s Seal or The Star of David. Photogs attending the event were more interested in Hrithik’s tattoo than AIDS and Hrithik humored them by displaying it to the cameras. The event was hosted by Heroes Project in association with the Mumbai District AIDS Control Society (MDACS) to reduce the stigma and discrimination against those living with HIV. Addressing the gathering, Hrithik encouraged people to show compassion to the AIDS victims and not to discriminate against them. “This is not a one time thing, this has to go on. I am here to take my pledge to be a part of this and I will do whatever I can. Not only just come and give speeches but be personally present in places where I can pass on, embrace and educate people through visual medium,” he said.

Much juicy gossip was spread around in the print and electronic media about Hrithik Roshan’s so called proximity to his Kites co-star Barbara Mori at the Cannes film festival which they both attended for promoting their film. Repeated video clippings of Hrithik putting his hand around Barbara’s waist during a photo call at Cannes was shown and comments passed about how his dad Rakesh Roshan who was also at the event was feeling embarrassed about it all. One can recall, few weeks back there were rumour floating around that Hrithik’s wife Sussanne had left him and gone to stay with her parents doubting him having an affair with Barbara. Hrithik had clearly denied such a thing and so had his wife. We saw the couple on Tuesday May 19th evening attending the Heroes Project and Mumbai District AIDS Control Society hosted 26th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial to reduce stigma and discrimination against those living with HIV. They arrived together and throughout the event and also on stage were together and left together. Had there been problems especially after watching the clips of Cannes then it would have definately been evident at the event last night. But there appeared no single sign of discomfort between the two as they looked a very much in love couple. We just hope a certain section of the media finally shuts its mouth and stop creating unnecessary controversy disturbing the Roshan family’s peace of mind.

After the first look of Kites was unveiled at Cannes Film Festival last week, Hrithik Roshan's next stop was a candlelight memorial for the AIDS affected in Mumbai. And joining him for the good cause were his wife Suzzane Roshan, actor Nandita Das and author Shobha De. "I was in Cannes but I had to come for this function. Our film got a great response and we are positive, let's see what happens," said Hrithik. Making his presence felt at the 26th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, Hrithik, it seemed truly believed in the cause and insisted it was for wife Suzzane who got him on board for this cause. "Suzzane has been the most important impetus, because she said this is something she truly believes in and wanted to do. She wanted me to be a part of it," he said. With that Hrithik put a stop to all rumours of trouble in paradise. And looked like there has been no love lost between the couple with Kites star Barbara Mori's name popping up from time to time. When asked about the brewing controversy of Barbara and Hrithik's chemistry, Hrithik said, "Aap jo bol rahe ho kafi hain, (I don't need to add to what the media is saying, it's enough)."
