Source: TOI Date: November 15, 2010 Actor Hrithik Roshan speaks about films, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and his father Rakesh Roshan in an exclusive interview with Ahmedabad Times Some adore him because of his ‘Greek God’ looks and some just can’t have enough of his methodical acting skills. And there are very few who can actually match his dancing skills. For nothing, he has millions of fans drooling over him across the world. And even after so many years, he has retained that absolute sense of professionalism. He kept his word and came to Ahmedabad even though he was not feeling well on a balmy Saturday. Hrithik is all gung ho about his latest flick Guzaarish. He plays the role of Ethan Mascarenhas — a paraplegic magician and he admits it was not easy to perform initially. “This role is the biggest and toughest challenge for me. It was a huge responsibility for me to convey to the audience that one has to keep smiling no matter what the reason is. When I met the first paraplegic patient I thought I would have to make him smile and happy but rather he made me feel happy and good. I have learnt that no matter what the problems are in your life just smile and you can conquer everything. This film has changed my life completely. It’s the most wonderful love story I have ever done,” he tells. Talking about his much-talked about on-screen chemistry with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik says that it’s been wonderful working with her from the first film till now. “The best thing about our chemistry is that since day one our equation is exactly the same. We both are open to each others’ suggestion and sometimes I do ask her for an opinion. I try and speak to her on how I can develop and become a better actor,” he says. Though Hrithik has done more films outside his father’s production house it is always been perceived the other way. He laughs, “I have done maximum films my ’s production house but his films are more talked about because he is a genius and knows the commercials aspects very well. I have rather rejected more films offered by my dad than other directors. If I feel for the character and have a beautiful vision for it, then I just take it up. If I can do justice to my character, there is no way I am going to say no to it. For my current film I was initially going to say no as I felt that I wasn’t ready for this role but in five minutes Bhansali sir convinced me and I agreed.” Talking about filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Hrtithik says, “He is an art director who is more artistic than just a director. He knows the art of visualising characters and only after that he casts them. He is immensely talented and it was a pleasure working with him.” With the actress fighting to be on the top in the cat race, do the men in the industry also believe in the top ten rating? “Acting for me is not business. If my heart says I just take up a project. The No.1 race is a waste of time. I don’t believe in it, “ he says. From Kaho Na Pyaar Hai till date Hrithik’s journey in the industry has been beautiful. But he feels that it can’t be described in words. “I feel I am blessed with amazing filmmakers — they are an actor’s access point. I have learnt a lot from all my films and my characters. They have made me become a better actor and person today.” In spite of having hectic shooting hours, Hrithik takes out lot of time for his children Hrehaan, Hridhaan and wife Suzanne. “I have lots of time on this earth to be with my family. I balance my time very well. People who say that they don’t have time are just making excuses because everyone has the time it is just that they need to learn to balance it. I spend a lot of time with my parents too,” says Hrithik on a parting note.
