When are you featuring Hrithik Roshan?" teenagers wanted to know ever since we began this column. So we got onto Hrithik's case with a degree of earnestness we weren't even aware we possessed. By the time we met the hazel-eyed teen craze, the entire Roshan household knew that we were scheduled to meet him at the SNDT College campus, Juhu.

The actor, who has been described as 'hunkalicious' by an imaginative critic, was doing a night shift for Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage being shot by Vikram Bhatt. This unusual love story re-teams Hrithik with his first heroine Amisha Patel.

Hrithik, who was more apprehensive about doing the feature than we were when we rolled out our first chappati, finally mustered courage to talk about mustard and more. And though he began reluctantly, he was soon flashing his infectious million dollar smile.

Suzanne's special for Hrithik -Spaghetti Bolognaise with Tomato and Meat Sauce

Ingredients

1/2 packet Barilla spaghetti

A pinch of oregano

1 kg kheema (nicely washed and drained)

2 big onions (chopped finely)

1 tbsp of olive oil

1 tbsp of crushed garlic

1/2 tbsp of ground ginger

1 tsp of cumin seeds

1/2 tsp of turmeric powder

2 tbsp of red chilli powder

1 tsp of coriander powder

1/2 tsp of garam

masala powder

3 tomatoes (finely chopped, plus one cup of water)

3 green chillies (slit)

Handful of chopped coriander leaves

Juice of 1½ lemon

200 gms grated cheese (use either Parmesan, Mozzarella or even Kraft)

Method

Make tomato purée and keep ready. Boil the spaghetti with oregano and salt and keep aside. To make the meat sauce, sauté the onions with cumin seeds, garlic and ginger till golden brown, add the washed kheema. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt to taste. Cook the kheema till it is half done. Add the chopped tomatoes and water and keep stirring and cooking on a slow fire till the water nearly dries up. Add the garam masala powder, green chillies and coriander leaves. Cover and cook on a slow fire for about 20-25 minutes. Add the lime juice, mix well and cook for another two to three minutes. Keep aside.

To serve

In a three-inch flat, long dish alternatively arrange half the spaghetti and kheema and red sauce and repeat. Arrange till complete. Garnish the top layer with grated cheese. Serve with hot garlic bread.

Hrithik's thought for food

When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is run on a treadmill for half an hour on an empty stomach. Later I take a bath and sit down for breakfast.

I enjoy eating: Vegetarian food. In non-vegetarian food I avoid steaks. I'd rather eat chicken and fish.

For my breakfast: I usually have four egg whites and one egg yolk, a toast and a glass of Myoplex. I leave for my work at about 8 in the morning.

My lunch comprises: A dal and some sabzi. I enjoy eating vegetarian food sent from home. Sometimes there is pasta.

With my lunch I like to have: Half a glass of Coca-Cola.

I enjoy eating: Broccoli.

I love but usually avoid: Cheese.

Once a week I freak out on: All sorts of fried stuff - French fries, potato chips and biryanis. Also pizzas and McDonald's burgers.

An honest admission: I am a complete food junkie.

I snack on: Protein bars and health food like soya chaklis and stuff like that.

In fruits I like: Apples, bananas, chikoos and grapes. I love mangoes but I refrain from eating too many.

Last time I ate a chaat: Six years ago.

My favourite beverage is: Water. I drink lots of water throughout the day. I also like the taste of apple juice.

My favourite mocktail: Apple juice.

My favourite cocktail: Bailey's Irish Cream.

My favourite cuisine: Indian. I enjoy all kinds of Indian food including idlis and dosas.

My grandmom (Ira Roshan) cooks: Excellent macher jhol. My mom is an excellent cook too.

My idea of an evening well spent: An evening spent with my in-laws. I have eaten the best biryanis, kebabs and barbecue chicken at Sussanne's parents' house.

On a hot summer day: If I am not shooting I like to work out and like to have Myoplex.

In the winter: I relish hot dogs and frankfurters - I freak out on them when I am abroad.

In desserts I like: Apple pie with vanilla ice-cream, brownies with ice-cream, ice-cream with chocolate sauce.

My weakness: Chocolates - Bounty, Ferraro Rocher, Kit Kat.

My favourite restaurants in Mumbai: Fiorella at the Leela, Little Italy and Trattoria at the President. Actually, nowadays I hardly go out for dinner. In my school days I frequented Woodlands.

My favourite restaurants abroad: Royal Dragon in London.

If I am ravenous in the middle of the night: I munch a protein bar, it's always there in my room. No junk food for me.

When we were on our honeymoon in Australia: On my birthday, January 10 (yes, it coincided with my honeymoon) Sussanne cooked me a lovely Italian meal. She makes the best spaghetti bolognaise.

My most romantic meal with Sussanne: An Italian meal at the Fiorella, Leela. Kaho Na Pyar Hai hadn't been released. I had saved money to buy Sussanne a fake Cartier designed Eternity gold ring. Sussanne treasures it till date.
