You can’t challenge the fact that Hrithik Roshan’s repertoire boasts of quality films. While other actors choose to be seen in a slew of films in a year, Duggu attempts to create a movie that is class apart and ensures that he gives the audiences what they’re waiting for. After his 2012 release Agneepath, everyone was aware that the superstar was working mighty hard for his magnum opus, Krrish 3. The audience was sorely missing their superhero on screen and everyone wondered why the Rakesh Roshan-directed affair was taking time. But guess it was all worth the wait because when the film finally hit the theatres, it was one helluva affair. Duggu had indeed created a film, which could well match up to Hollywood standards and the actor proved yet again that he was the undisputed superhero of Bollywood.
But besides being the superhero of Indian cinema, Duggu has dabbled and mind you, excelled in all genres. From the family entertainer Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to the historical drama, Jodha Akbar and the coming-of-age film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Duggu has seen unprecedented success in almost everything he has been a part of in his 13-year long career. But if there’s one genre he hasn’t yet tried his hand at, it’s comedy. It seems Duggu doesn’t want to do the run-of-the mill masala comedies and instead, wishes to star in a black comedy or a comic caper that would bring to light his witty side.
In fact, we hear that Hrithik is taking such keen interest in the art of comedy that he even recently dropped in to watch a show by East India Comedy at the Canvas Laugh Factory in Palladium, Lower Parel, Mumbai. Now, when a star of his stature visits a busy public place, he is bound to attract attention and get mobbed. Knowing that he would be thronged by his several admirers, Duggu made a back-gate entry and sat with his entourage at Canvas – a lounge situated a level above the Canvas Laugh Factory. Minutes before the show kick-started, Duggu was informed that it would be safe for him to come in then as the crowd had already been seated.
Wearing a pair of jeans and a black jacket with a cap to keep away from the public glare, Hrithik made an entry with his bodyguards and sat in the last row to watch the show. And boy, did Duggu enjoy the show or what! A source tells Stardust on condition of anonymity, “Hrithik feared that he would get mobbed so he specially called up the managers at Canvas Laugh Factory to ensure that he would be able to make a silent entry and watch the show at peace. In fact, he stayed for almost an hour and was seen in splits while watching the comedians perform. Surprisingly, the crowd seated ahead of him didn’t realise that he was in the audience because he had disguised himself well.”
Moreover, the sweetheart that Hrithik is, he made sure he had a chat with the comedians as he was mighty impressed with their acts on stage. Just before the interval was announced, Duggu quietly went out and waited at the floor above to meet each one of them. Naturally, the comedians were thrilled to bits for having a superstar like him as a part of the audience. As soon as he met the team, Hrithik hugged each one of them and spoke to them at length about stand-up comedy.
The source further informs, “Duggu’s close friends had been telling him a lot about the comedy shows taking place in town and hence, he was yearning to get some free time in hand to watch them. And now that his most ambitious project, Krrish 3 has received a stupendous response at the box-office, Duggu decided to take some time out to visit the store. He was heard telling the comedians how he couldn’t stop laughing throughout the show and that they were truly doing a good job. Apparently, Duggu has been making a list of the things he hasn’t tried out yet. Even though he is one of the most favourite superstars in the country, he still feels like a child at heart curious to learn something new every day. And one of the things on his list is mastering the art of comedy, which is why he decided to drop in to actually witness the stand-up comedy scenario in India.”
Before leaving, Hrithik even told all the comedians that he would love to come back and watch some more shows as he had had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Truly a humble star, aren’t you, Duggu?
