Rocky S on Hrithik!
I first met him when he had come along with Sussanne after the first half of ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ was complete. He needed the look for the second half. He came across as a humble person and I went all out to help him.
People appreciated his ‘cool’ look in the film - the body-fits, jackets and velvet trousers. But Hrithik, being a perfectionist, had packed in great effort for that. In ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, the half-sleeved white shirt looks simple but he underwent several trials for that. He rehearses even for his photoshoots.
So much of involvement from a star drives the designer too.
Earlier I didn’t like his hair-style and told him so. He has worked on it. Also
he needs to ‘chill’. He is hyper about work. Sometimes I tell him, ‘Just sit
down and wear what I’m giving you. It’s only a movie that you are working in - not your life!’ Another complex he has is the fear of losing weight. Even if he hasn’t lost weight, he frets, ‘Oh God! I’ve lost weight again!’
He is generous in appreciation. He is the only star who thanked me too when he received his first award. No actor has ever thanks his designer. The boy who walked into my store before his stardom and the star of today remains the same person.
