Mithun Chakraborty's iconic character from Agneepath has been dropped in the remake. Just few days back, TOI broke the story on how Mithun's son Mimoh is apprehensive about the remake of 1990 blockbuster 'Agneepath' with a different star cast.

The remake which will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has Hrithik reprising Amitabh's coveted character 'Vijay Dinanath Chauhan' on screen. Sanjay Dutt has been roped in to play villain Kancha Cheena, originally played by Danny.

Just when news of who should play Mithun's iconic Krishnan Iyer MA started doing the rounds, Mithun's son Mimoh had told TOI, ""No actor can revive dad's role from Agneepath, unless the character is modified a bit. What dad did as Krishnan Iyer MA is simply iconic. It's like remaking 'The Godfather' and replacing Marlon Brando with some other actor as Don Corleone! Krishnan Iyer MA was as important a character in Agneepath as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan was."

We've now discovered, knowing the immense popularity of the character in the original and without risking the audiences' non-acceptance of it in the remake the makers have decided to drop it altogether. Our source close to Agneepath remake revealed, "There is no Krishnan Iyer in the new Agneepath. There is going to be a completely new character which will be introduced in the film."

Wonder if this news will make Krishnan Iyer fans happy or dejected. Happy for the iconic performance of Mithun stays intact and sad for Agneepath without Krishnan Iyer MA seems unthinkable! Mimoh though we are sure will welcome this development
