Bollywood heartthrob and the Times' Most Desirable Man of 2010, Hrithik Roshan, came face-to-face with his wax figure at Madame Tussuads in London yesterday. As the actor unveiled the waxwork that took four months to make at the cost of £150,000, his eyes brimmed over. "It feels surreal to be standing in front of a life-like image of your own self," said Hrithik.
"Now I know what it means, when it is said that this is for posterity. This is a life-defining moment, the family is here with me, everyone, grandfather, grandma, my parents, my children, my sister and my wife.'' Duggu, who has been captured in his Dhoom-2 avatar with red short-sleeved shirt left open to reveal his toned body and blue jeans, revealed, "On an online poll my fans felt that this was the best costume for my waxwork. I have a feeling of deja-vu. For 25 years ago, I had stood impatiently in the queue outside waiting to make a tour. This time I am here under different circumstances."
He is the youngest male actor from India to be honoured by Madame Tussauds. Other famous Indians here include Sachin Tendulkar, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. Hrithik, after this "slightly creepy" but "completely humbling and encouraging" experience, told TOI, "Suddenly I feel there are no failures. Looking at this waxwork that will perhaps be here for a 100 years after I have gone, I feel real hope. I know my children can always come back and see this. It should inspire them to work hard in whatever sphere they choose. Suddenly all the hard work, all the fears, fatigue, prayers everything seems to have an answer.''
