Actor to shoot for Talk Asia expected to feature on the international show Icon too
Hrithik Roshan will soon join the league of actors Aamir Khan,Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Oscar-winning Indian composer A R Rahman and industrialists Ratan Tata and Kumarmangalam Birla.
He will appear on CNN's popular chat show Talk Asia that features popular Asians from different walks of life, across the countries in the continent. The show is anchored by a rotated set of anchors. Earlier on, it featured interviews with various people who, in some way, affect Asian issues. Gloria MacapagalArroyo, Regine Velasquez, Ma Ying-Jeou, Leehom Wang, Anna Sui, Jet Li, Manny Pacquiao, Shigeru Miyamoto, Jay Chou, Vivienne Tam, Sadako Ogata, Chen Shui-bian, Tablo, Thaksin Shinawatra, British band Franz Ferdinand, South Korean band Super Junior, Japanese singer Ayumi Hamasaki and American rapper Jay-Z have also been featured on the show.
Lately, an increasing number of known names from the US and the UK, and fewer people from Asia have been seen and heard on the show.
Hrithik was expected to shoot his episode on May 4 with a team that was flying in from CNN's Hong Kong office. However, terrorist Osama Bin Laden's gunning down episode in Pakistan's Abbottabad at the hands of American troops forced the channel to re-align their plans to shoot the 30-minute capsule with him.
Now, sources close to the actor assert that the show will be shot towards the end of this month, and a fresh set of convenient dates has been sent to the channel's team for consideration.
A spokesperson from the channel confirmed the same saying, “The Talk Asia shoot with Hrithik Roshan was postponed due to Osama bin Laden's death and the chain of ground breaking stories. CNN International is now endeavoring to reschedule the shoot for the end of this month. We're proud to associate ourselves with him and have him on a show that has featured some of the finest names of Bollywood so far.“
Apparently, the network has also initiated talks with the actor, currently working on Karan Johar's Agneepath remake, to feature him on one of their most popular art and culture shows, Icon, a while after his episode of Talk Asia has been aired. Icon is watched in several countries across the When asked, the spokesperson maintained, “We have no official information about Hrithik being featured on Icon. Only when we have any information on a development there, we shall be able to talk about it.“ RAHMAN ON ICON TOO?
Buzz is that the June edition of Icon will feature Bollywood and a lot of celebrities from the industry have been approached to appear on the show as guest speakers.
One of them is twin-Oscar winner A R Rahman. When asked, the CNN spokesperson confirms that the composer will be a part of the show.
“A R Rahman has been confirmed as a guest. As and when we have more names firmed up, we shall keep you posted,“ she adds.
