Director Anurag Basu's Kites may have been in the news for Hrithik Roshan and Mexican model and actress Barbara Mori's steamy scenes but well there's definitely a lot more to it than that. The filmmaker speaks about the story of the film and more.

CNN-IBN: What is Kites all about?

Anurag Basu:Well, without revealing too much about the story I can tell you that it's a love story. It's a story that breaks all the language barriers. It's about an Indian boy and a Mexican girl which is played by Barbara Mori.

CNN-IBN: You have a habit of reading out your scripts out too fast and Barbara had a problem with that. Tell us about that incident?

Anurag Basu: Actually, I talk very fast and my English accent is very Indian and she is used to hearing English in an American accent. But what is amazing is the way she understood the entire story. I was trying to go really slow to explain each and every nuances of the film and she was very attentive. I could see the change of expression in her eyes as I was telling her the story.

CNN-IBN: You're doing this film with Rakesh Roshan who is a director as well. Tell us about the experience of working with a producer-director?

Anurag Basu: It's very tough to put myself in his shoes. This is because he's never really given any flop, at least I can't remember a flop from him and so there is a lot of pressure on me. The fact that he's a director is good because he realises the kind of elbow space you need to give to a director.

CNN-IBN: There has been a lot of talk about the bold scenes in the film. Do you think that this is taking the attention away from the main subject of the film or that this would be good for the publicity of the film?

Anurag Basu: I don't really know why people are taking about the bold scenes. Maybe it's got something to do with my reputation after Murder. But the Kites is not about erotism and bold scenes. It's just a simple, plain and pure love story.
