At a time when Bollywood potboilers are minting Rs.100 crore, Rs.200 crore and more, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan hopes "Krrish 3" reaches the Rs.1,000 crore milestone at the box office. The "Krrish 3" team - director-producer Rakesh Roshan and the cast of Hrithik Roshan, Vivek Oberoi, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut - was here Wednesday to spread the buzz about the movie which releases Nov 1. When a reporter asked what box office record he would like to create with "Krrish 3", senior Roshan said: "Rs.1,000 crore!" He laughed but the gleam in his eyes expressed his positivity towards his project which stars his son Hrithik as a superhero. The film is the third in the "Krrish" franchise which began with "Koi Mil Gaya". Hrithik is proud of the project, especially as his father took a decision to use all "Hindustani" artists for the visual effects and action. "It is great that our cinema has come to a stage where, in one percent of the budget of a Hollywood film, so much can be incorporated," said Hrithik of "Krrish 3" which features mutants. "It is the first truly home grown superhero film and it is a proud feeling for us. If 'Krrish 3' is a success or rather when 'Krrish 3' is a success, let me be positive about it, it will be great for the sake of our artists. The scope will be so much for them that we will not just be able to match (international levels) but also go beyond it," he said.

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan says he ropes in Hrithik Roshan as a superhero in the "Krrish" franchise because he feels no actor can essay it better than his son. Asked why he casts Hrithik as a superhero, senior Roshan said: "There's no other actor (other than Hrithik) in Bollywood who can become a superhero. If any other actor suited the role, we would have already seen a film before ours." "Hrithik looks like a superhero, performs like a superhero," added the proud father, who gave a dreamlike launch to his son with blockbuster "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai" in 2000. What about Shah Rukh, who played the lead role in "RA.One"? "Shah Rukh is good," he responded to a query. The senior Roshan also clarified that his comment comes in the capacity of a director and not as a father. "A father will always say his son is a superhero," he said. "Krrish 3" releases Nov 1.

Actor Hrithik Roshan, who is currently busy promoting "Krrish 3", says the team might come up with "Krrish 4". "All the other franchise like Spiderman, Superman all those films were revamped in a span of three to four years. This is one film which has completed a decade, which is great, and maybe you will find a 'Krrish 4' in future. You never know," the 39-year-old told reporters during a group interview. "Hopefully we will also make 'Krrish 4'," he added. "Krrish 3" is the third film in the franchise that began with "Koi Mil Gaya" in 2003 followed by "Krrish" in 2006. Also starring Vivek Oberoi, Kangana Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra, the film is a sci-fi thriller that will take forward the story of a superhero, played by Hrithik. The actor says a lot of new things have been introduced in "Krrish 3". "We are for the first time introducing mutants in our cinema. It is exciting for me as there are lot of new things to look forward to. Progress has been tremendous from first 'Krrish'," he said. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the movie is slated to release in November.

You are competing with Priyanka Chopra in Krrish 3, right?
Wrong. My character in Krrish 3 is not that of a heroine. I play a mutant — a supergirl. She has shades of grey. She is fierce and then suddenly, she’s sweet. She is part woman, part animal. And I must tell you that most of the guys on the set were fascinated by her. There were whispers of admiration about my costume. Obviously, guys are more fascinated by these game characters. A woman doing somersaults and someone dressed in a bodysuit is special. So, I’m not really competing with Priyanka because we have not been given the same roles. I do have a love story with Hrithik, but it is not a conventional one. And yes, I’m one of the leads in the movie. But a comparison with PC is unfair.
There have been several reports of stress between PC and you. Are these publicity-driven?
Priyanka and I did Fashion in 2008 and we’ve always had a good equation. Even when she was promoting Shootout At Wadala, we met and had chatting sessions. I’ve never got bad vibes from her. Though we’ve not met socially after Aamir Khan’s party, even there she was very nice to me.
Getting back to Krrish 3 , you had refused the film earlier. Why did you change your mind?
I am happy to land this role. When you are young and sensitive, you tend to get carried away by your emotions. I said no to Krrish 3 when it was first offered to me and expected the Roshans to hate me. I thought Rakeshji and HR (Hrithik Roshan) would never speak to me again. However, they invited me for HR’s birthday and they were so nice to me. I felt like a fool. I knew other girls were being auditioned for the part. And all through, I was in touch with HR. He is my friend and has always been. I’m a girl in my 20s, sometimes I act impulsively. But, I’m glad Rakeshji and HR made me understand and rethink my decision to do Krrish 3. No one has been so kind to me in the past. I didn’t do The Dirty Picture and I don’t regret it. But if I had not done Krrish 3, I would have killed myself.
