…says actor Hrithik Roshan in an interview with Ahmedabad Times He’s a complete winner so far as looks are concerned. Not for nothing, he has female fans waiting for hours outside the hotel just to have a dekko. But the buck doesn’t stop there. Hrithik Roshan created a mass hysteria with his first film Kaho Naa... Pyaar hai. Since then there has been no looking back for this talented actor. With a body of memorable films like Koi... Mil Gaya, Krrish, Dhoom 2, Jodhaa Akbar to his credit, he has carved a niche for himself in the world of entertainment.
The cameras start clicking the moment he enters. In a purple T-shirt, jeans and a pony tail, he looked dashing. With the monsoon hitting Gujarat, rains come as the natural subject to break the ice. He says, “I love the rains. And it has been wonderful driving down from Mumbai to Gujarat in this season.” He seemed to be completely enjoying his road trip and he says, “I really enjoyed the Gujarati thali I had in Surat. It was delicious. I was looking to forward to have the same in Ahmedabad.”
Hrithik was in town for the promotion of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD). An actor par excellence, Hrithik says, “I am not the one who is thinking about my position in the coming years. I believe not to attach myself with the past or future. I believe in living in the moment. This is one moment I want to enjoy completely —- whether it’s in front of the camera or not. ” He doesn’t consider himself “perfect, even if others consider me to be one”. It’s hard to believe that he can get a thing wrong on the screen. Some of his films might have bombed at the box-office but he always gets his share of critical appreciation. Ask him about his method, he says with an air of modesty, “Seriously speaking, I don’t believe that I am perfect. I have not crafted any plan. I just go by my instinct . ” ZNMD is a film he chose on the basis of the ‘strength of the script.” And yes, it’s poles apart from his last release and as he says emphatically, “No way you will be thinking about Guzaarish when you watch ZNMD. I believe in doing things in extreme opposite ways. But a sense of deep involvement is there while doing each and every film. When I did Guzaarish, I was completely involved in that world. And the same I can say about this film too. ZNMD is a departure from the work I have done till now.”
Hrithik’s also working in the remake of the much-talked about Agneepath. He started his career as an assistant director but he never felt that he would be an actor. At one point of time, he thought that “acting is the scariest and toughest profession.” And then with a laugh, he adds, “Over the years, it’s become a little less tough.” As an actor, he doesn’t really believe in watching films as a reference point. “I believe in starting fresh, an absolutely new canvas. That gives me a fresh way to look at my role.” Tell him about his huge female fan following and he says with a smile, “I take it all as a compliment. My hardwork has paid off. I want to give my best to the film industry and to my fans.” That’s a long journey ahead. If he can afford a break, then he wants “to take his wife Suzzane and kids on a road trip to Europe.”
